Weekend Recap... ah YEAHH

Image
I started off my weekend right with a healthier take on brunch at Breadwinners after a night of celebrating a friend's birthday.  I woke up weirdly craving the sweet potato fries and aioli, but was also able to manage the veggie burger as well.   That night we rallied in order to see Will Sparks with Joel Flethcher and Timmy Trumpet.  I had never heard of Will Sparks until my friends convinced me to see him earlier this summer in Ibiza.  Very long story short- that night made my trip and was probably the highlight of my summer (if I could only pick just one).   After an Uber trip down to Lizard Lounge that could only be desrcibed as painful, I was shocked and less than thrilled when the bouncer turned down my ID...  never mind that I turn 22 in a month, and that our VIP ticket had now been rendered useless.   BUT- I was not going to just leave and end my night on a bad note, so I vowed that the night would be one of sober fun... Until this guy ( serious face,

Personal Days

Image
I woke up yesterday to perfect weather, a new internship, and a cancelled morning class.   The rest of my day in a nutshell:  pitaya smoothies .  retail therapy .  sprinkles cupcakes .  windows down .  sunroof open .  inside jokes . scheming .  child of wild flash tatts .  sketching on the porch .  sun on my back .  pink lemonade .  afternoon naps .  wine .  guacamole .  dinner outside .  skinny margaritas .  catching up with an old friend .   & no perfect day is ever complete without a sound track. Enjoy!

Sunday Funday at The Rustic

Image
So I know the Rustic is not a new thing, but with work, school, and life in general, I got my first chance to go this weekend (even though I used to live pretty much across the street from it).  I had originally written it off when it first opened a year ago as a Katy Trail Ice House knockoff.  Instead, I was pleasantly surprised to enjoy a whole new experience.    The Food.   Our server was super friendly, and even excused my basicness when I pulled up a picture on my phone of this mythical drink-popsicle thing and asked what it was.  Behold, 10 minutes later we had the summer special Sangria Margarita and Strawberry Daiquiri chilling in front of us.  ( One was definitely enough for a relaxed night )    We came to be adventurous, so we ordered the calf fries without asking what they were  despite the laughs from our server.  I think that might be my first and last time ordering bull balls,  but I will definitely come back for the deviled eggs, braised

Flying High at Mara Hoffman

Image
image courtesy of fashionisers.com I have been a die-hard Mara fan for the past several years and once again, I am loving her creations.  Her new collection, "The Sunrisers" debuted earlier this week, but it was definitely not what I was expecting.   fashionweekdaily.com Known for her electric prints, the designer took a different route and showed simpler, more relaxed pieces with a much softer color palette.  The new collection gives off a very west coast, boho-at-the-beach vibe.  Before the show, Hoffman told Style.com backstage that this season she wanted to show that she does "a whole lot more than just blasting you with neon prints".  Instead, her goal this season was to "shift the equation" in order to better reflect her own personal style and to show off her evolution as a designer.  The new collection showed off her range as a designer as well and reflected Hoffman's mantra: "Be Light".     hotbuysbazaar.blogspo

Fierce & Fringe at Jay Godfrey

Image
Every year, I find myself quoting Miranda Priestly in my head as I keep up with the coverage of the Spring Summer Runway collections... " Florals for Spring...Groundbreaking ".  To be honest, I've just never been a fan of floral or pastel for that matter, which usually leads to me viewing shows with a critical eye.  However, Jay Godfrey's show was a standout with a tough yet chic rock n' roll vibe I can't get enough of.   the black lace... and THAT blue  & one more final look- love the western meets rock vibe

September Must Haves

Image
For me the end of summer has come to mean back to school and the promise of cooler weather.  Although I love the bright colors of spring and summer, there is nothing I love more than good denim, cozy sweaters, and rustic boots.  Below are my top pick for this month to get you started on building your fall wardrobe. Karen Walker Number One sunnies These large tortoise frames never go out of style and are perfect to shield you from the last bit of summer sun or for holiday latte runs.   Native Rose Denim Tattoo Jacket Beautiful embroidery spices up a classic piece Rag & Bone Newbury booties a classic favorite Boys Club Sweater I have been seeing this sweater all over for months now- NastyGal also offers it in a variety of colors as well as a cropped version and a sleeveless version to suit anyone's style preference.   Elliott Label leopard Flippy Shorts I bought these earlier this summer and plan to continue wearing them until the weather d
