Flying High at Mara Hoffman

I have been a die-hard Mara fan for the past several years and once again, I am loving her creations. Her new collection, "The Sunrisers" debuted earlier this week, but it was definitely not what I was expecting.

Known for her electric prints, the designer took a different route and showed simpler, more relaxed pieces with a much softer color palette. The new collection gives off a very west coast, boho-at-the-beach vibe. Before the show, Hoffman told Style.com backstage that this season she wanted to show that she does "a whole lot more than just blasting you with neon prints". Instead, her goal this season was to "shift the equation" in order to better reflect her own personal style and to show off her evolution as a designer. The new collection showed off her range as a designer as well and reflected Hoffman's mantra: "Be Light".

The messy, beachy braids at the show also generated buzz among beauty bloggers. Nick Irwin, global creative director at Catwalk by TIGI, first misted the models' hair with Catwalk Session Series Transforming Dry Shampoo to create the effortless look. He then loosely braided their hair, kneading it to allow for a messy look, and finished it off with Catwalk Session Series Work It Hairspray

Although I do like the breezy, feminine vibe of "The Sunrisers", I will always love Hoffman's bold prints. However, I was impressed to see Hoffman's signature quirk sprinkled throughout the collection in the form of intricate embroidery, delicate beading, and even a new pot leaf print- definitely a high point.
